The creative industry has been buzzing with anticipation ever since MAXON announced the launch ofCINEWARE at NAB 2013. CINEWARE is a revolutionary new live 3D pipeline between CINEMA 4D and Adobe After Effects in After Effects CC which offers ease of use and strengthens the advantages of the seamless and unmatched connectivity between After Effects and CINEMA 4D even more. The new live 3D workflow streamlines and speeds up production pipelines, which makes it even easier to meet tight deadlines.
With CINEWARE, CINEMA 4D files can be directly imported into After Effects and layered as footage elements within the composition including CINEMA 4D’s powerful multipass and layer workflow. Cameras, lights and solids can also be exchanged between CINEMA 4D and After Effects. CINEWARE offers a wide range of possibilities for users to speed up their workflow and work more independently.
In addition to CINEWARE, the new After Effects CC release also includes CINEMA 4D Lite, which is a feature-limited version of CINEMA 4D. It gives artists the ability to create, import, texture and animate 3D content that will be rendered within After Effects. Users can also opt to expand their 3D toolset and get the very most out of CINEMA 4D by upgrading to CINEMA 4D Broadcast or Studio.
CINEMA 4D Broadcast is the motion graphics powerhouse that has everything you need to create dynamic broadcast graphics quickly and easily, while CINEMA 4D Studio is the very best that MAXON has to offer for professional 3D artists.

I was given the chance to talk about Creativity, the VFX Industry and VFX Career path in Malaysia by the number one radio station in Malaysia, BFM, The Business Station. Among the topics covered were, my role in the industry, the perception of creative people being less smart and often thought of as a secondary vocation, the impact of creativity in our lives today, school system downplaying the importance of creativity in learning, lack of specialized talent and paths to how one can get into the industry even if they are underprivileged. I also spoke about Government grants that are available for the masses. Listen to the podcast which will be available in August, 2013.

I am reading DIGITAL COMPOSITING FOR FILM & VIDEO for the third time now. Every time I read it, I find new information. I have read many technical books on compositing previously but this book gives me so much more techniques.
The books is about hands-on digital compositing techniques but not software specific. It makes good reference for node based applications such as Shake or Nuke. There are exercises provided for Photoshop users but they are not applicable for some of the methods described.
I love the fact that Steve includes ‘roll you own’ flowgraphs and techniques makes this book a ‘must-have’ for any VFX artist. Fundamentals of digital compositing are covered extensively with many simple examples. I encourage they be used to teach these basics before going onto advanced topics.
I highly recommend this book to be used for training either in the subject of Digital Compositing or general Multimedia. Both trainers and students should use this book as a reference.
