I was given the chance to talk about Creativity, the VFX Industry and VFX Career path in Malaysia by the number one radio station in Malaysia, BFM, The Business Station. Among the topics covered were, my role in the industry, the perception of creative people being less smart and often thought of as a secondary vocation, the impact of creativity in our lives today, school system downplaying the importance of creativity in learning, lack of specialized talent and paths to how one can get into the industry even if they are underprivileged. I also spoke about Government grants that are available for the masses. Listen to the podcast which will be available in August, 2013.

I am reading DIGITAL COMPOSITING FOR FILM & VIDEO for the third time now. Every time I read it, I find new information. I have read many technical books on compositing previously but this book gives me so much more techniques.
The books is about hands-on digital compositing techniques but not software specific. It makes good reference for node based applications such as Shake or Nuke. There are exercises provided for Photoshop users but they are not applicable for some of the methods described.
I love the fact that Steve includes ‘roll you own’ flowgraphs and techniques makes this book a ‘must-have’ for any VFX artist. Fundamentals of digital compositing are covered extensively with many simple examples. I encourage they be used to teach these basics before going onto advanced topics.
I highly recommend this book to be used for training either in the subject of Digital Compositing or general Multimedia. Both trainers and students should use this book as a reference.
